Obituary for Myrtis M. Ray

Myrtis M. Ray, 94, of Dawsonville passed away Friday July 29, 2016 at her residence following a period of declining health.
Born December 17, 1921 to the late Loland and Ethel Darnell, she was a lifelong resident of Dawson County. Mrs. Ray devoted her life to being a homemaker and was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. A member of Sweetwater Baptist Church, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Ray, and a daughter, Sherry Ray.
Surviving are her children, Jerry Ray, Dawsonville, Janice and Gary Powell, Dawsonville, David Ray, Dawsonville, Jane Baugh, Dawsonville, Calvin Ray, Cleveland, Brenda Ray, Dawsonville; sisters, Louise Kent, Dawsonville, Gladys Bennett, Dawsonville, Mamie Reeves, Dawsonville, Mildred Lowe, Jonesboro; 8 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and a number of other relatives.
Funeral services will be held Monday August 1, 2016 at 3 o’clock at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Ricky Lee will officiate. Interment will follow in the Sweetwater Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 4 until 8 at the funeral home.
