Obituary for Frank R. Powell

Frank R.  Powell
Frank R. Powell, 71, of Dahlonega passed away Tuesday March 1, 2016.
Born June 16, 1944 in Dawson County to the late Claude and Lois Powell, he had lived in Lumpkin County for the past 22 years. Mr. Powell was employed several years at Mead Packaging after which he worked for the U. S. Postal Service. Frank was a U. S. Navy veteran of Viet Nam. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed hiking, growing plants and cooking for others. Mr. Powell was also preceded in death by his brothers, Arnold Powell and Dwight Powell.
Surviving are his sons and daughters in law, Patrick and Greta Powell, Woodstock, Whitney and Rebecca Powell, Dawsonville; grandchildren, Emily Powell, Alison Powell, Matthew Powell, Morgan Powell, Maclane Powell; sisters and brother in law, Jean Gilreath, Whiteville, TN, Carolyn Bruce, Dawsonville, Linda Powell, Dahlonega, Melody and Gerald Ballew, Talking Rock; brothers and sisters in law, Ronnie and Gail Powell, Jackson, GA, Gary and Janice Powell, Dawsonville, Delorice Powell, Dahlonega, Mae Powell, Dawsonville; and number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Funeral services will be held Friday March 4, 2016 at 2 o’clock at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Wayne Hicks will officiate. Interment services will be held Monday March 7, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at Georgia National Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 5 until 8 at the funeral home.
