Obituary for George Stevenson

George  Stevenson
George Stevenson, 79, of Dawsonville passed away Tuesday November 25, 2014 at Grady Memorial Hospital following a brief illness.
Born March 3, 1935 to the late Dutch and Alice Stevenson, he had been a resident of Dawson County for the past five years but had lived in the North Georgia area since 1977. A member of Etowah River Church of Christ, he was a U.S. Army veteran who served in the 82nd Airborne from 1951 to 1953. Starting as an apprentice in 1965, he worked in the steel fabrication industry all of the United States until his retirement in 2009. A wonderful storyteller, Mr. Stevenson was also an avid football fan and “political junkie”.
Surviving are his wife of 43 years, Joanne Stevenson, Dawsonville; sons and daughters in law, Michael and Betty Stevenson, Dawsonville, Richard Stevenson, Minot, ND, Robert and Gayla Stevenson Minot, ND; daughters and sons in law, Kimberley and Vance Hendon, Cumming, Nancy and Randy Patrick, Dawsonville, Carol and Mark Mayhew, Dawsonville, Traci Manweiler, Dawsonville, Brianna and Rico Vlastelic, Dawsonville, Cynthia and Richard Thomas, Minot, ND; 4 brothers; 6 sisters; 15 grandsons; 14 granddaughters; 24 great-grandsons; 13 great-granddaughters; a number of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Memorial services will be held Sunday November 30, 2014 at 4 o’clock at Etowah River Church of Christ. Kenny Brannan will officiate.
