Dawson County Humane Society

As one of the founders of the Dawson County Humane Society, I saw Pat and Russ step up in the early days to join the effort. I remember Pat as one of a group of quilters that was willing to donate handmade quilts for auction to benefit the new society. Once we began rescuing animals, they were quick to volunteer for the adoption team to get these animals a new home. When we kept most of these animals at the Thompson Creek Animal Hospital, Pat and Russ would come by regularly to play with the pets to acclimate them to humans. Pat would spend all of her time with the cats and kittens while Russ would sneak off to play with the dogs occasionally. When the shelter was under construction, Russ played a key role watching over the construction. Once we were open, Pat played a significant role with the board of directors. Both of them remained heavily involved in the adoption process after the shelter opened, and they dedicated themselves particularly to the cats and kittens at the shelter. I will testify to the critical role both of the Anderson's played in the opening and initial operation of the Dawson County Humane Society.
