Obituary for Ralph Diodati Drew

Ralph Diodati Drew, 86, passed away on Tuesday morning in the arms of his wife Becky at their home in Dawsonville.

A committed and faithful servant of the Lord, a devoted husband, and a generous member of his community, Ralph touched people all over the world with his Christ-like spirit, sharp sense of humor, and lasting wisdom. Ralph was born in Methuen, Massachusetts and spent childhood in New England, served in the US Navy, and graduated from the University of Florida in 1957 with a degree in architectural engineering. Ralph returned to Massachusetts and then again to Florida where he raised his children and used his talents in the fields of engineering and architecture. He met Becky in Lakeland and they were married in 1975. Ralph and Becky made their home in North Georgia and spent their time shepherding others toward the Lord. Ralph would give his time and abilities to mission trips in Central America and Asia where he built churches for the local communities, just like he did for his neighbors in Dawsonville and Dahlonega.

Ralph was pre-deceased by his parents, Rafaele and Mary, by his two brothers, Ronald and Reginald, and many cousins. He is survived by his beloved Becky, his daughters Donna Diodati and her husband Richard Carner, and Holli Diodati, and her husband Timothy Smith; his son Kyle Diodati, and his wife Eleanor, his son Ed Moore and his wife Beth, his daughter Karen Branson and her husband Bert. His grandchildren are Melanie Monell, and her fiancee Nick Saul, and their newborn son, Dominic, and Natalie Monell and fiance Jesse; Zachary Diodati and his fiancee Ashli Warren, and Victor Diodati and his wife, Amy; and Nick Diodati and his fiancee Lily, Alex and Gina Diodati, Chelsea and her husband Rich Wilson; and grandchildren Chris Branson and Amber Urias; and Nicole and her husband Joseph Sanborn. He will also be missed by nieces Cynthia Reilly and her family, Erika Daigle, her husband Mitchell, and their family, Helena Thorne and her husband Jamal, and Clara Diodati, and his many cousins and friends.

Ralph’s family will receive friends at Bearden Funeral Home on Friday, February 16, 2018 from 5 PM until 8 PM.

A memorial service will be held at his church; Church of the Apostles North at 32 Grant Road West in Dawsonville on Saturday, February 17th at 11 AM.

A private interment service will be held at Georgia National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, Ralph’s family asks for donations to be made to the Church of the Apostles North in Dawsonville or the Dahlonega Care Center at 353 North Grove Street, Dahlonega, GA 30533.
