Obituary for Elizabeth Janice Canup

Elizabeth Janice  Canup
Elizabeth Janice Chumbley Canup, 68, of Dawsonville passed away Tuesday January 30, 2018 at Seasons Hospice following a period of declining health.
Born March 24, 1949 to the late Odum and Jethel Chumbley, she was a native of Dawson County. Mrs. Canup lived in Griffin for 30 years before returning to Dawson County in 2006. A graduate of Dawson County High School and Georgia Baptist School of Nursing, she worked as a Registered Nurse for Spalding Regional Hospital for 25 years and at Emory Midtown until her retirement. A member of Juno Baptist Church, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Alfred Canup; brothers, Duren Chumbley, Clinton Chumbley; and her son in law, Steve Brown.
Surviving are her children, Trina Brown, Dawsonville, Tony and Opal Canup, Griffin, Ted Canup, Dawsonville; sister and brother in law, Judy and Bill Abercrombie, Gainesville; 7 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; sisters in law, Eunice Chumbley, Dawsonville, Sarah Chumbley, Blairsville; aunt, Pat Cox, McRae; and a number of other relatives.
Funeral services will be held Friday February 2, 2018 at 2 o’clock at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Dennis Bottoms will officiate.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 4 until 8 at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Juno Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Cameron Burt, P. O. Box 627, Dawsonville, GA 30534.
