Obituary for Jan Grimes

Jan Grimes
Jan Grimes, 84, passed away Saturday November 25, 2017 and is now at peace in the arms of our Heavenly Father, Jesus.
Jan was preceded in death by his parents, Dewey and Ione Grimes and brothers Dale and Gary Grimes. He graduated from College High School in Bartlesville, Oklahoma in 1951 and moved to Stillwater, Oklahoma where he attended Oklahoma State University (then known as Oklahoma A&M). Upon graduating college, he spent 2 years in the military being stationed in Germany. Upon returning home he moved to Atlanta where he was employed with I.B.M. He eventually went to work with The First Bank of Atlanta. While with the bank, he was sent to Milan, Italy where he assisted in setting up a bank there. When returning back to Atlanta, he eventually was hired by Equifax where he retired after many years as a vice president. He loved helping other people, especially people who served our community such as firemen, policemen, and anyone working in public service. Jan wrote many articles in the newspaper trying to help them under the name of “The Simple Man”. He is waiting at the Rainbow Bridge with his special dogs, Lil Bit and Max….wish they had visiting hours at the Rainbow Bridge.
Surviving are his loving wife, Kay Grimes; daughters, Cindy Grimes, Parker, Colorado; Michelle and her husband Dean Fredriksen; granddaughters (who meant the world to him), Kristen Fredriksen, Kelsey and her husband Mauro, of the Atlanta area; a very very special sister and brother in law, Jill and Ken Beck, Stillwater, Oklahoma; several nieces and nephews to include niece, Robbin Patterson and daughter, Typanga, Stillwater, and nephew, Mike Hesser, Waco, Texas; special friends, Joe Wilkinson, John Schwartz, Tom Berry, David Martin, Weldon Sheriff, Tom Deal and many many more.
A graveside service is planned for Jan within the next few weeks at the cemetery in Oliver Springs, Tennessee.
