Obituary for Sarah Elizabeth Grove

Sarah Elizabeth  Grove
Sarah Elizabeth Grove, 95, of Dawsonville, Georgia passed away Wednesday November 8, 2017 at North Georgia Assisted Living.
Born January 5, 1922 in Calhoun, Illinois to the late Allen and Aileen Bunch, she lived most of her life in Illinois before moving to Kentucky and then to Dawson County in 2001. In her early years Mrs. Grove was employed at Olney Shoe Factory. During WW II she moved to Long Beach, California where she worked at Vultee Aircraft. She then moved to Evansville, Indiana where she worked at Briggs & Straton making aircraft parts. While in Illinois she served as the church pianist, choir director and taught Sunday School at Dundas United Methodist Church. Mrs. Grove enjoyed life on a farm which included gardening, cooking, raising chickens, sewing, quilting and was very devoted to her family. After the death of her husband she spent 5 years volunteering at Red Bird Mission in Beverly, Kentucky. A member of Bethel United Methodist Church, she was also preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Dolven Grove, and son in law, Jerry King.
Surviving are her daughters and son in law, Donna King, Dawsonville, GA, Nancy and Ron Lanterman, Freeburg, Illinois, Linda Haddon, Roswell, GA; grandchildren, Patrick and Crystal Lanterman, Todd and Nikki Lanterman, Drew Haddon, Matthew Haddon Rachel Haddon; great grandchildren, Hailey Lanterman, Candence Lanterman, Miles Lanterman, Gavin Brown.
The family will receive friends Saturday November 11, 2017 from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Grove will then be sent to Olney, Illinois for funeral services and interment in the Crest Haven Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Bethel United Methodist Church, 100 Lumpkin Campground Road South, Dawsonville, GA 30534.
