Obituary for June Chamblee Zinskie

June Chamblee  Zinskie
June Chamblee Zinskie, 78, of Dawsonville passed away Sunday January 17, 2016 at the Oaks at Limestone following a period of declining health.
Born March 27, 1937 in Norcross to the late Paul and Winnie Robertson, she lived most of her life in Buford before moving to Dawson County when her health began to decline. June graduated from Buford High School where she played basketball and graduated Nursing School in 1969 dedicating her life to providing healthcare to others. Throughout her career she worked at Button Gwinnett Hospital and Buford General Hospital where she assisted with the births of the first babies ever born at both. She also worked as a surgical scrub nurse, emergency room nurse and floor nurse. She then worked for Buford Medical Clinic, Lakeshore Heights Nursing Center and was a charge nurse at The Oaks at Limestone until her retirement in 2005. While in Buford she coached softball for many years at the Buford American Legion and for several years was extremely involved with the Scouting program. She was very devoted to her family and possessed an adventurous spirit which led her to live life to the fullest. June was a collector of everything and loved the snow, even allowing her family watch her ride a snow sled down the hill at Buford Dam. She was a member of Buford First United Methodist Church and was also preceded in death by her husbands, Clyne Chamblee and Paul Witham; son, David Chamblee; and her twin brother, Jack Robertson.
Surviving are her children, Lisa and Ted Bearden, Dawsonville, son, Joseph Witham, Colorado; grandsons, James Bearden, Wesley Bearden, Dawsonville, Jamison Witham, Colorado; sister, Betty Ruth Phagan, Gainesville; sister in law, Gene Robertson, Gainesville; special niece and nephew, Teresa and Bob Dula, Gainesville; and a number of other relatives and friends.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday January 20, 2016 at 11 o’clock at Broadlawn Memorial Gardens in Buford.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday January 20, 2016 at 2 o’clock at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Stephen Davis, Rev. Phillip Burt and Rev. Jason Hamby will officiate.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 5 until 8 at the funeral home
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Activities Department at The Oaks at Limestone, 2560 Flintridge Road, Gainesville, GA 30501.
A special thank you goes to her caregivers at The Oaks at Limestone for providing such dignity and loving care during her stay there.
