Mike Miller

We have been friends since before we were born. Our parents together in Daytona just weeks before we were born and on that vacation they took video of the two expectant mothers - Lynn’s mother and mine. At the latest, that’s when Lynn became my best friend. Our parents came back, we were born and our mothers had their babies at their first Camp Meeting. From the beach at Daytona throughout her life, I always knew Lynn was there. I may never completely wrap my mind around losing Lynn on this earth, but I know she’s looking out for her family and friends from Heaven, extending her constantly helping hand down to guide and protect us until we meet her again. I cannot begin explain nor find words that express what Lynn meant and means to me: A sister closer than any other, a friend beyond comparison, loyalty without limits, a caring listener with boundless attention, a teacher by examples that were higher than most, nor I, could ever achieve,…. Lynn and I occasionally escaped to return to our childhood together, silly giggles, racing across the yard (Lynn always won), climbing the tallest white pines in the yard, building a tree house, swimming in the lake, aggravating and teasing Marla way too much and being on our old black and white TV’s when we were on the Skipper Ray Show. Just two country kids growing up in a simpler and carefree world that has long since passed us by. Her kids were born and then the grandkids arrived later, they became a part of my life as well as my children and grandchildren becoming a part of hers. Never did we drift as we passed through all the stages of life and now we have another stage to pass through. With Lynn’s help, all who love her will in time grow accustomed to the void in our lives, but none will get over Lynn’s absence All in all I’ve lost an irreplaceable piece of my heart and life, a constant that never fails, a sister, a best friend…. All of those things and more came from Lynn and there is no doubt her love and encouragement kept me from falling on my face many times — “Well you should, Mike, you can do that…” still rings in my head. Indeed, I’m a better husband, father, grandfather, teacher and I am certainly a better man for having had Lynn in my life for all of her 62 years. Godspeed Lynn, Godspeed.
