Obituary for James Robert "Bob" Nicely

James Robert "Bob" Nicely
James Robert “Bob” Nicely, 80, of Dahlonega passed away Monday December 25, 2017 at his residence following a sudden illness.
Born March 6, 1937 to the late James and Louise Nicely, Bob had been a resident of Dahlonega for over 30 years. A U.S. Navy veteran, he served from 1955-1959 on the CV61 USS Ranger. For many years he worked in the cattle industry which moved him all over the country. Bob worked for Tatum Farms after moving to Georgia until starting Nicely Construction Company in 1982. He built many homes in the North Georgia area until his retirement in the early 2000s. He is also preceded in death by two sons, James Alan Nicely, Daniel Lee Nicely and brother, Leonard Nicely.
Surviving are his sons and daughter in law, Brent and Mary Ann Nicely, Dawsonville, Chris Nicely and Carol Anne Bailey, South Carolina; daughter, Debbie Sorensen, Buford; grandchildren, Brittany Diane Ledford, Rylee Kate Nicely, Jessica Leigh Long, Clayton Cody Long; a number of other relatives.
Memorial services will be held Friday December 29, 2017 at 2 p.m. at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Jason Hamby will officiate.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1 p.m. until the service hour on Friday.
