As I write this, I look back on my school days and smile. Mr. Fletcher was truly an incredible man. Much more than a teacher, he was a mentor and a friend to me as well as many students at Dawson County High. Always willing to let “boys be boys”, which probably caused him some grief sometimes, you knew where he drew the line and you didn’t want to cross it. Even now, thirty years after graduating, when I reminisce with friends about the old days, the stories of Fletch still come up. A true man of character that would always smile when he spoke of his family. I consider myself truly blessed for the time I had with Mr. Fletcher and can only hope he was aware of the impact he had on the young people of Dawson County.
