Obituary for Carrigan "JC" Gayton

Carrigan "JC"  Gayton
Carrigan “JC” Gayton, 71, of Dawsonville passed away Sunday December 17, 2017 at North Fulton Hospital following a sudden illness.
Mr. Gayton was born April 19, 1946 to the late Beecher and Aline Gayton. A resident of Dawson County for the past ten years, he lived most of his life in Cumming. He enjoyed hot rod cars, fishing and spending time with his grandkids. A U.S. Army veteran, he retired from General Motors with over 30 years of service and also served as a deacon at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church. He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Clara Anthony, Lucille Browder and brother, Horace Gayton.
Surviving are his wife, Rita Gayton, Dawsonville; daughter and son in law, Misti and Richard Moore, Dawsonville; son, Mickey Gayton, Cumming; grandchildren, Megan Gayton-Clark, Collin Moore, Dalton Moore, Ethan Moore; sister, Sandra Young, Dawsonville; sisters in law, Shirley Gayton, Dawsonville, Linda Shadburn, Cumming, Rhonda Jones, Columbia, TN; brother in law and sister in law, William and Denise Jones, Cumming; best friends, Harold and Patricia Pearson, Cumming; a number of other relatives.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday December 20, 2017 at 2 p.m. at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church. Rev. Rodney Pilcher, Rev. Michael Cantrell, and Rev. Clyde Boling will officiate. Interment will follow at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery in Cumming. Family and friends are encouraged to drive their classic cars to the service.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday December 19 from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Mt. Vernon Baptist Church, C/O Kenneth Mulkey, 1853 Cowart Road, Dawsonville, GA 30534.
