Condolence: My sincere condolences to Roy’s family and friends. Roy was a gentle soul and amazing friend. He was such a pleasant and charming personality, full of warmth and bliss. Last summer, we worked on a project together. We spent very long hours tackling issues and coming up with solutions for challenging problems, but no matter how tired and exhausted we were, he always made it bearable with his clever humor and laughter. Roy, we all miss you.

Condolence: How sad I am to hear of Roy or as we called him, Bubba's passing. I met Bubba many years ago at Dawsonville Church of God and we had many fun trips traveling to hear the Perry's. The last time I spoke to him, he told me he was moving to Texas to start a new life and I pray that he found happiness. Rest in peace my friend, love you always - Cookie!

Condolence From: Heidi Boswell
Condolence: I had the pleasure of knowing this great man for too short of a time. Roy was a very successful co-worker and an even better friend. I can still see his sneaky, smiling face peaking around my office door when he had some sort of news to deliver. No matter how challenging the day might have been, Roy always came in with a smile (or a mischievous grin) – you knew it was about to get fun. I was very sad to hear this terrible news about Roy. Luminex and this community lost an amazing person. It will not be the same around here – Roy will be greatly missed. My thoughts and prayers are with the family.

Condolence: My thoughts and prayers are with Roy's family. Roy was a bright light and I was so fortunate to have known him. I met Roy when we started working on a emergency use authorization for a diagnostic. We spent countless hours in the huddle room putting the application together. Although an arduous task, Roy was consistently cheerful and brought laughter to a very stressful time. Roy is one of the kindest people I have ever met and the world has dimmed in his absence. I will miss him.

Condolence From: Jennifer Svoboda
Condolence: Roy was a wonderful colleague and friend to me and I am so sad that he is gone. I got to know Roy really well last year and had the pleasure of learning that not only does he have an exuberant and hilarious personality but also that he certainly “knows his stuff” when it comes to his job. A Southern gentleman to the core, Roy respected and protected those of us with which he worked closely and was persistent in his desire to never let anyone down. I wish I had more time to learn from him as a manager and mentor and more time to laugh out loud with him as a friend. He was a gem.

Condolence: We'll certainly miss Big Roy. I can remember first seeing Roy at a weightlifting meet in S. Forsyth - hard not to notice a 12 or 13 year old like him. I got to know Roy a lot better in the mid-90s when we trained with our coach, Ben Green. We had a lot of great times going to weightlifting meets across the country. Roy was quite a character and so much fun to be around. There were plenty of jokes, laughs, picking at each other, and good times with our weightlifting friends.

Condolence: I met Roy when he first started at Luminex. He was pretty quiet that day...but not for long. After I got to know Roy, I would enjoy walking down the hall to sit in his office and have a conversation with him. He was always kind, and we would joke around together. He called me "Trouble". He always had a smile on his face, no matter what was going on that day. I miss his sweet smile and of course his accent. Anyone who ever had the pleasure of meeting Roy, will never forget him. My condolences to his friends and family.

Condolence From: Matt Beck
Condolence: Roy was the kind of guy here at work who always would say 'hi' and was easy to joke with. My best memory of Roy was when I came into the office one night to catch up on something. After I finished up and was leaving, who should I see coming down the hall but Roy, wearing workout clothes and sandals. He was his usual positive self and we got in a few good jokes in that night about work and life and all. I'll miss not having him around to repeat the experience, but I'll smile because it happened.

Condolence From: Rama Subramanian
Condolence: I am extremely sorry to hear about Roy. I knew that he was not well but did not realize the severity of the condition, so this is quite a shock. I worked with Roy on a number of pre-submissions for the FDA and found him to be extremely knowledgeable on the regulations with an understanding of the biology as well. Roy was easy to work with, very accommodating and very professional in his approach. Roy’s contribution was very valuable to Luminex and he will be missed by the regulatory, clinical and R&D/PD folks with whom he interacted a lot, but his friendly approach, his sense of humor and demeanor will be missed by one and all. Our prayers and thoughts are with Roy’s family as they go through these difficult times. May his soul rest in peace.
