Obituary for Kenneth "K. K." Turner

Kenneth "K. K."  Turner
Kenneth “K. K.” Turner, 85, of Dawsonville passed away Sunday December 4, 2016.
Born November 27, 1931 in Salisbury, NC to the late Joseph and Myrtie Vera Turner, he lived most of his life in Dawson County. K. K. was a graduate of Dawson County High School and worked as a real estate developer. He was a U. S. Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict, was a member and past president of the Dawsonville Lion’s Club and also served as a Lion’s District Governor. Kenneth was a past Commander of the American Legion Post 247, was a 63 year member of Etowah Lodge # 222 F & AM, was a member of Dawsonville United Methodist Church and attended Lumpkin Campground throughout his life. He enjoyed NASCAR, playing checkers, dominos and cards with his family and friends, attending gospel singings and having breakfast with friends at the local restaurants. K. K. was also preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Betty Jo Turner, and brothers, Joseph M. Turner, II, and Clinton W. Turner, Sr.
Surviving are his children, Michael and Julie Turner, Roswell, Diane and Tony Phillips, Statesboro, David and Janice Turner, Dawsonville, Grady and Vicki Turner, Dawsonville; grandchildren, Michell and Clint Smith, Matthew and Brandi Turner, Hannah and John Sewell, William and Stephanie Turner, Katie and Brady Mathis, Joseph Turner, Tatum Turner, Madison Phillips, Tucker Turner; five great grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday December 7, 2016 at 11 o’clock at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Sven Mossinger, Rev. Joel Embry, Rev. Stephen Davis and Rev. Clint Smith will officiate. Interment will follow in the Dawsonville City Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 1 until 8 at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Lumpkin Campground, c/o Brian Martin, 4945 Hubert Martin Road, Cumming, Georgia 30028.
