Obituary for William Harley Walls

William Harley  Walls
William Harley Walls, 82, of Cumming passed away Wednesday October 12, 2016 at his residence following a sudden illness.
Born February 20, 1934 to the late C. C. and Effie Walls, he was a lifelong resident of Forsyth County. Mr. Walls was a retired diesel mechanic who co-owned Walls Garage which one of the oldest family owned businesses in Forsyth County, established in 1922 and still in operation. After his retirement he remained involved with diesel and engine repair and enjoyed gardening. Harley was a U. S. Army veteran and was a member on Concord Baptist Church where he enjoyed his Sunday School Class. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 38 years, Dorothy Walls; a son, John Walls; and brothers, Glyndon Walls, Luke Walls, and Edmond “Doodle” Walls.
Surviving are his children, Carol and Tim Whitmire, Dawsonville, James “Jimmy” Walls, Cumming, Neil and Lauren Walls, Smoke Rise; grandchildren, Charley Ann Whitmire, Cumming, Zachary Walls, Zoey Walls, Zane Walls, all of Smoke Rise; brothers and sisters in law, Grady and Evelyn Walls, Gainesville, Rupert Walls, Cumming, Charles and Janice Walls, Cumming; sisters and brother in law, Evelyn Pylant, Marietta, Pat and Norman Miller, Cumming; sisters in law, Betty Walls, Cumming; Joann Martin, Cumming; special friend and neighbor, Susie Cook; and several special nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services will be held Saturday October 15, 2016 at 1 o’clock at Concord Baptist Church. Dr. Scott Gilbert and Rev. Rubin Smith will officiate. Interment will follow in Sawnee View Gardens.
The family will receive friends Friday from 4 until 8 at the funeral home.
