Obituary for James "Perry" Knight

James "Perry"  Knight
James “Perry” Knight, 77, of Dawsonville went to be with his Lord on Sunday October 25, 2015 at Embracing Hospice following a period of declining health.
Born July 1, 1938 in Athens, Georgia to the late Fred and Elizabeth Knight, he had lived in Dawson County for the past 30 years having moved from Cumming. Mr. Knight retired as a superintendent for C. W. Matthews after 30 years of service. Perry was a U. S. Army veteran of the Korean War where he served with the 101 Airborne. After his time in the service he returned to Georgia where he met his loving wife and lived out his life. He enjoyed restoring and showing his classic cars and was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and uncle who enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren. Perry was a member of Amicalola Baptist Church and was also preceded in death by a brother, Frank Smith. Perry’s family wishes to thank Embracing Hospice for their kindness and loving care.
Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Nancy Sexton Knight; daughters and sons in law, Teresa and Mark Tanner, Terryl “Terri” and Ron Cote, Lynn and John Willoughby, all of Dawsonville; brother and sister in law, Jett Alan and Sonia Smith, Dubai; seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Friday October 30, 2015 at 1 o’clock at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Tom Stradley and Rev. Joey Wigley will officiate. Interment will follow in the Amicalola Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 2 until 8 and Friday from 11 until 1 at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
