Obituary for James M. "Jim" Parrish Jr.

James M. "Jim"  Parrish Jr.
James M. “Jim” Parrish, Jr., 68, of Dawsonville passed away Wednesday October 7, 2015 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following a period of declining health.
Born October 11, 1946 in the Panama Canal Zone, he had lived in Dawson County since 2001 having moved from Lawrenceville. Mr. Parrish was employed as a millwork specialist at Home Depot for 27 years and was currently at the Cumming location. Jim attended Drexel University in Philadelphia where he played football and wrestled. He then earned his B.S. degree in marketing from Mercer University in Macon. He was extremely devoted to his grandchildren. Jim was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church and was preceded in death by his mother, Doris Parrish.
Surviving are his wife of 47 years, Kay Parrish, Dawsonville; children, Marshall Duke and Daidra Parrish, Smyrna, Jennifer Kay and Brian Nance, Sheffield, AL, James Aulds and Lori Parrish, Dawsonville; nine grandchildren; father, Dr. James M. Parrish, Sr., Orange Park, FL; sister and brother in law, Patricia and Russell Dukes, Manderin, FL; brothers and sisters in law, Dr. Todd and Peggy Parrish, Orange Park, FL, Michael and Emily Parrish, LaGrange, Stephen Parrish, Los Angeles, CA; and a number of other relatives.
Funeral services will be held Saturday October 10, 2015 at 12 noon at Grace Presbyterian Church will the remains placed in state at 11 a.m. Rev. David Jordan will officiate. Interment services will be held Sunday October 11, 2015 at 2 o’clock at Oaklawn Cemetery in Ft. Valley, GA.
The family will receive friends Friday from 6 until 8 at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Good Shepherd Clinic of Dawson County, 452 Highway 53 # 1009, Dawsonville, GA 30534.
