Obituary for Rachel Padgett

Rachel  Padgett
Rachel Padgett, 86, of Dawsonville passed away Sunday September 20, 2015 at her residence following a period of declining health.
Born January 25, 1929 to the late Ratcliff and Carrie Kelley, she was a lifelong resident of Dawson County. A member of Trinity Baptist Church, she taught for 48 years in the Dawson County School System. She was dedicated and active with the Dawson County Senior Center and also the Dawson County Retired Teachers. A loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and avid bingo player, she loved people, visits, talks, and traveling. She is also preceded in death by her brother, Winford R. Kelley.
Surviving are her daughters and son in law, Maresa Helton, Dawsonville, Marthenia and Larry Buchanan, Dawsonville; son, Darion Padgett, Dawsonville; grandchildren, Jeremy and Rebecca Thomason, Jennifer and Jason Caudell, LaKesha and Daniel Kimbrell, Tena and Chuck Prather, all of Dawsonville; great-grandchildren, Kaleb Thomason, Lexis Painter, Emma Caudell, Rylan Painter, Ava Caudell, Jimma Kimbrell, Bailey Prather; a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday September 23, 2015 at 1 o’clock at Trinity Baptist Church. Rev. Josh Mulkey and Rev. Dean Pugh will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 4 until 8 Tuesday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Dawson County Historical and Genealogical Society, PO Box 1074, Dawsonville, GA 30534.
