Obituary for Wade Crane

Wade  Crane
Wade Crane, 90, of Dawsonville passed away Thursday October 17, 2013 at the Bell Minor Home following a period of declining health.
Born June 6, 1923 to the late James M. “Doc” and Eula Crane, he was a lifelong resident of Dawson County. Wade retired as a foreman for Vantress Farms after 18 years of service and was also formerly employed by Dawson County Park & Rec, Hasco, and Mark Heard Fuel Company. Mr. Crane was a U. S. Navy veteran of WW II where he served in the Pacific Theater and was a member of Juno Baptist Church. Wade was also preceded in death by his step father, Ben Chastain; brothers, Willard Crane, Raymond Chastain, James Crane; and sisters, Ola Belle Wiley, Ann Hooper, Wynell Lingerfelt, Mary Gatrell and Betty McCoury.
Surviving are his wife of 70 years, Marvene Crane, Dawsonville; children, Lloyd and Joann Crane, Dawsonville, Linda and Larry Grizzle, Dawsonville; sisters and brothers in law, Margie and Ernest Davenport, Greensboro, Estelle and Chuck Reece, Gillsville; brothers and sisters in law, Ralph and Shirley Chastain, Dahlonega, Alton and Linda Chastain, Dahlonega; grandchildren, Tina and Tim Costley, Leslie and J’Lene Grizzle, LeAnne and Frank Stowers, Lisa and Jeff Perry, Tina and Frank Brown, Dena and Brady LeBaron; fourteen great grandchildren and a number of other relatives.
Funeral services will be held Sunday October 20, 2013 at 2 o’clock at Juno Baptist Church. Rev. Tommy Weldy, Rev. Jason Hamby, and Rev. Dennis Bottoms will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends Friday from 6 until 9 and all day Saturday at the funeral home.
